Jennifers job is amazing. Last year we knew God has His hand in this opportunity when she got the job without having the minimum requirements for the job, she wanted to leave early and get their a bit late, and she hadnt taught for 12 years. In addition it was a literacy specialist job and as those who know Jennifers academic background can attest to
Reading is not a strength. She herself struggled with reading all through life. The joke often was has Jennifer read a book. This is not the typical person to get a literacy job. God is amazing though. We have come to believe, sometimes God wants us to do a job that we dont believe we can do just because he wants to firmly establish His hand in our life! The job has turned out great because it has required lots of training. This year, she got to be trained by an expert in the area of dyslexia. The instructor appreciated Jennifers passion (or fight to learn the material), and she has offered her additional training. Eventually this training will lead towards Jennifer being able to train others. All of this requires time, but no money. What a huge gift! The amazing staff, her very supportive and loving principal and having the kids at school with her, makes her thankful everyday for this job she actually gets paid to do.

God is not only making His presence known in Jennifers job, but He is also making Himself known during this difficult family time. Jennifers dad has been sick for years with Alzeimers. This form of Alzeimers also has a Parkensins component, so Dad is loosing his ability to process information as well as he is loosing his ability to physically function. This past July Dad was moved out of his home into a place called just like home. There he was cared for by a couple of care givers who grew to really love dad. Dads quality shined when Lorrie (one of the care givers) said, She has never cared for anyone as kind and loving as Dad! This fall Dad fell and then right before Thanksgiving he fell again. The 2nd fall created a huge change. He had to be moved to a nursing home which was beyond difficult. Dad never wanted to be in a nursing home, but there werent any other options. The doctor has said he is failing quickly. We dont know exactly what that means, but we are all thankful for everyday we have with him. At thanksgiving we were particularly blessed because dad was able to come to dinner at Brads and Susans. He was unable to stay awake, he had a terrible headache and he had to leave early with out eating much of anything but he was able to come to Thanksgiving. The nicest gift God gave was that when the family said the family grace, a man who struggles to say anything, was able to say this grace without any trouble. The next morning he remembered being at dinner and he also remembered that the Broncos won. Dad always knew what was important.

There are so many blessings from this time. Dads only brother and Aunt Kay have reached out to all of us in a truly amazing way. They have given to us more than deserved. They have been a picture of unselfishness and how loved we all feel when offered such a relationship out of love. All of us have been able to have precious time with Dad. He has continued to communicate how much he loves us and how proud he is of all of us. Anyone that knows Dad will miss him! He really is a remarkable man! |
