Courtney is growing up. As the 3rd born, we all could keep this child the baby of the family. On one side she fights this and on the other side she uses this as a huge part of her position in the family. We have seen this little girl begin to finally lose those front teeth (this summer) and now she works hard to keep up with her older sisters. Her interests are developing into a love for writing, she is growing as a reader, she enjoys playing with friends and if there is a craft to do, she will be glad to pull out the scissors. |

| She sings in the church choir and this summers swim team highlight was qualifying for state in the Olympic Training Center Pool. (She says it was a FAST pool!) Her smile gives her away along with her contagious laugh. If she is thrilled about something, you know it from this smile. An example is over Thanksgiving we went skiing and from the minute Courtney got onto the lift she smiled from ear to ear. At the end of the day, she was tired and freezing but the smile didnt leave her face for fear that wed make this skiing day end. |

She has really grown as a student this year. She always has done well, but now she is willing to be taught as opposed to doing only what she wants in the way she wants to do it. The result of her ability to be coached has spread over into all areas of her learning. She is the 1st child to tell everyone what she has learned. It is as if she cant get enough information fast enough to share with anyone and everyone who will listen. We are suspecting this love of knowledge mixed with her new ability to be coached will begin new passions in her life. |

Courtney wanted to stay at the neighborhood school and not go to the school mom teaches at. The problem was that most of Courtneys friends from last years class were going into 3rd because she has a knack for making friends older than she is and this was definitely true in last years multi age class. We also knew that if we were going to make the move, it would never be easy for Courtney, but coming out of a class she loved last year into a classroom experience that was more traditional, it might as well be at a new school. In reality this made this change that much more difficult for Courtney. She really gets homesick for her old school. What is awesome about Courtney is that she doesnt let these feelings pull her down. She is thriving at the new school. She willingly does additional projects like the attached powerpoint that she created. She partners with other kids to support their learning experience. She has made lots of new friends. Lastly even though she was outvoted in her choice of school, she has stepped up to the plate and has embraced this school year with commitment. Again, we are impressed with her ability to adjust. |
